A traditional inn in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere

Set within a historic Arts and Crafts building in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, Lakes Inn blends heritage with warm, relaxed hospitality. Once home to creative craftsmanship, the space now welcomes guests as a traditional inn, serving hearty pub classics and well-kept drinks. Whether you’re stopping by after a day by Lake Windermere or settling in for a cosy evening, Lakes Inn offers a friendly atmosphere rooted in local history.

The building now home to the Lakes Inn in Bowness has roots in the late 19th-century Arts and Crafts movement. It was originally constructed as the “New Spinnery,” created to showcase the textile work of renowned local designer Annie Garnett. As her business expanded, the original workshop at Fairfield became too small, and this purpose-built space was developed to display and promote her intricate, nature-inspired designs to the public.

Over time, the building evolved from a centre of Lakeland craftsmanship into a social and hospitality venue, but it still retains its creative heritage.

The Lakes Inn is a food based pub.
